Gente de Competa
Me complace enormemente presentarles el libro de conmovedores retratos de los estimados residentes de Cómpeta, que fue creado como parte de las Jornadas Fotográficas de Cómpeta y en estrecha colaboración con la Academia Fotografía y Diseño.
La rica belleza cultural y el ambiente auténtico de Cómpeta, así como la cálida acogida de la comunidad y de la alcaldesa Rosa Luz Fernández, me han inspirado profundamente como fotógrafa. Cada uno de los retratos clásicos en blanco y negro que encontrarás en este libro cuenta una historia individual y muestra la diversidad y personalidad de este pintoresco pueblo de las montañas de Andalucía.
La excelente colaboración con los dedicados estudiantes de la Academia de Fotografía y Diseño LIK en el marco de las Jornadas de Estudiantes de Fotografía de la UE ha dado a este proyecto un impulso creativo continuo. Su entusiasmo y sus enfoques innovadores han contribuido a hacer de este proyecto un tributo al arte de la fotografía y a la promoción del intercambio creativo.
Un agradecimiento especial al municipio de Cómpeta y en especial a la alcaldesa Rosa Luz Fernández por su apoyo abierto y su confianza en este esfuerzo especial. Su visión y liderazgo han enriquecido este proyecto y han hecho posible capturar la esencia y el espíritu de Cómpeta de una manera inigualable.
Todas las fotos de 2022 fueron tomadas de mi mano como fotógrafo profesional, mientras que las de 2024 fueron realizadas por los talentosos estudiantes de la Academia LIK de Fotografía y Diseño de Viena. Este enfoque colaborativo añade una dimensión extra al proyecto y muestra la diversidad del talento creativo que se ha volcado en los retratos de los residentes de Cómpeta.
Cada uno de los retratos refleja la profunda conexión y el orgullo de los habitantes de Cómpeta. Que este libro sirva no sólo como documento artístico, sino también como tributo a la belleza, la comunidad y la singular alegría de vivir de Cómpeta.

People of Competa
The aim was to depict as many inhabitants of Competa as possible under standardised studio conditions. The use of rembrandt light created a charm and depth that can only be achieved through the play of light and shadow in black and white.
The classic portrait shot that fills the format brings out the unique features and personalities of the people. Each resident, young or old, brings their own story and emotion to the picture. It's not just about the technique, but the connection between photographer and model that allows true snapshots of life to be captured.
With a carefully planned setup and the aim of revealing the character traits and soul of each person, the result is an impressive gallery that reflects the heart of Competa. The results are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also a powerful testament to the community and its diversity.
It gives me great pleasure to present to you the book of moving portraits of the esteemed residents of Competa, which was created as part of the Jornadas Fotográficas de Competa and in close collaboration with the Academia Fotografía y Diseño.
The rich cultural beauty and authentic atmosphere of Cómpeta, as well as the warm welcome of the community and the mayor Rosa Luz Fernández, have deeply inspired me as a photographer. Each of the classic black and white portraits you will find in this book tells an individual story and shows the diversity and personality of this picturesque village in the mountains of Andalusia.
The excellent collaboration with the dedicated students of the LIK Academy of Photography and Design in the framework of the EU Photography Student Days has given this project a continuous creative impetus. Their enthusiasm and innovative approaches have contributed to making this project a tribute to the art of photography and the promotion of creative exchange.
Special thanks to the municipality of Cómpeta and especially to the Mayor Rosa Luz Fernández for her open support and confidence in this special endeavour. Her vision and leadership have enriched this project and made it possible to capture the essence and spirit of Cómpeta in a unique way.
All of the 2022 photos were taken by my hand as a professional photographer, while the 2024 photos were taken by the talented students of the LIK Academy of Photography and Design in Vienna. This collaborative approach adds an extra dimension to the project and shows the diversity of creative talent that has gone into the portraits of the residents of Cómpeta.
Each of the portraits reflects the deep connection and pride of the inhabitants of Cómpeta. May this book serve not only as an artistic document, but also as a tribute to the beauty, community and unique joie de vivre of Cómpeta.

Menschen von Competa
Das Ziel war es, so viele Einwohner von Competa wie möglich unter standardisierten Studiobedingungen abzubilden. Durch die Verwendung von Rembrandtlicht entstand ein Charme und eine Tiefe, die nur durch das Spiel von Licht und Schatten in Schwarz-Weiß erreicht werden können.
Die klassische Portraitaufnahme, die das Format ausfüllt, bringt die einzigartigen Merkmale und Persönlichkeiten der Menschen zur Geltung. Jeder Bewohner, ob jung oder alt, bringt seine eigene Geschichte und Emotion in das Bild ein. Es geht nicht nur um die Technik, sondern um die Verbindung zwischen Fotograf und Model, die es ermöglicht, wahre Momentaufnahmen des Lebens einzufangen.
Mit einem sorgfältig geplanten Setup und dem Ziel, die Charakterzüge und die Seele der einzelnen Menschen sichtbar zu machen, entsteht eine beeindruckende Galerie, die das Herz von Competa widerspiegelt. Die Ergebnisse sind nicht nur ästhetisch ansprechend, sondern auch ein kraftvolles Zeugnis der Gemeinschaft und ihrer Vielfalt.
Es ist mir eine große Freude, Ihnen das Buch mit bewegenden Porträts der geschätzten Einwohner von Competa vorzustellen, das im Rahmen der Jornadas Fotográficas de Competa und in enger Zusammenarbeit mit der Academia Fotografía y Diseño entstanden ist.
Die reiche kulturelle Schönheit und die authentische Atmosphäre von Cómpeta sowie die herzliche Aufnahme durch die Gemeinde und die Bürgermeisterin Rosa Luz Fernández haben mich als Fotografin sehr inspiriert. Jedes der klassischen Schwarz-Weiß-Porträts, die Sie in diesem Buch finden, erzählt eine individuelle Geschichte und zeigt die Vielfalt und Persönlichkeit dieses malerischen Dorfes in den Bergen Andalusiens.
Die hervorragende Zusammenarbeit mit den engagierten Studenten der LIK-Akademie für Fotografie und Design im Rahmen der EU-Fotostudententage hat diesem Projekt einen kontinuierlichen kreativen Impuls verliehen. Ihr Enthusiasmus und ihre innovativen Ansätze haben dazu beigetragen, dass dieses Projekt eine Hommage an die Kunst der Fotografie und die Förderung des kreativen Austauschs ist.
Ein besonderer Dank geht an die Gemeinde Cómpeta und insbesondere an die Bürgermeisterin Rosa Luz Fernández für ihre offene Unterstützung und ihr Vertrauen in dieses besondere Unterfangen. Ihre Vision und Führung haben dieses Projekt bereichert und es ermöglicht, das Wesen und den Geist von Cómpeta auf einzigartige Weise einzufangen.
Alle Fotos des Jahres 2022 wurden von mir als professionellem Fotografen aufgenommen, während die Fotos des Jahres 2024 von den talentierten Studenten der LIK Akademie für Fotografie und Design in Wien gemacht wurden. Dieser kollaborative Ansatz verleiht dem Projekt eine zusätzliche Dimension und zeigt die Vielfalt des kreativen Talents, das in die Porträts der Bewohner von Cómpeta eingeflossen ist.
Jedes der Porträts spiegelt die tiefe Verbundenheit und den Stolz der Einwohner von Cómpeta wider. Möge dieses Buch nicht nur als künstlerisches Dokument dienen, sondern auch als Hommage an die Schönheit, die Gemeinschaft und die einzigartige Lebensfreude von Cómpeta.
